Temporal Dithering

Temporal Dithering

Temporal dithering occurs when a display flickers between two colors so fast that your eye sees a blend of them. Note that the hex value for the "True Blend" is not the simple average of the hex values for "Color A" and "Color B". This is due to how gamma correction works when displaying sRGB values. Also note that 120 fps flickering will appear as a single color on 60 Hz displays.

Color A#ff0000
30 fps~33ms per frame
60 fps~16ms per frame
Color B#0000ff
120 fps~8ms per frame
True Blend#bc00bc
